Client: Rodney Strong Vineyards
Role: Email Developer & Designer
Task: Modernize and align the existing email template with Rodney Strong’s new brand guidelines
Overview
Rodney Strong Vineyards, a renowned Sonoma County winery, launched a refreshed brand identity reflecting their heritage and premium positioning. As part of this rollout, I was tasked with updating their email template to integrate the new typography, color palette, and aesthetic direction while maintaining accessibility and responsive functionality.
Challenge
- The existing template used outdated fonts and muted colors.
- The rebrand introduced elegant serif and script typography with navy and gold tones.
- The goal was a modern, luxury feel compatible across all email clients.
Approach
- Typography Update: Integrated new brand fonts including LaLuxes Serif, LaLuxes Script, and Riccione Regular, replacing previous Gill Sans and Times New Roman usage.
- Color Palette Integration: Shifted from the old neutral and burgundy tones to the new navy and gold scheme to match Rodney Strong’s updated website and digital touchpoints.
- Template Cleanup: Removed deprecated styles and consolidated CSS for performance while retaining responsive classes for mobile optimization.
- Dark Mode Considerations: Maintained meta settings to disable dark mode overrides, preserving brand color fidelity in email clients.
- Accessibility: Ensured sufficient color contrast and semantic heading structures to improve readability and screen reader compatibility.
Outcome
The final v3.0.1 template features:
- A luxurious serif and script typographic hierarchy conveying heritage and elegance.
- Strong brand color application with deep navy headers and gold accents for CTAs.
- Optimized media queries for seamless mobile viewing.
- Cleaner codebase for efficient editing and faster deployment.
- Fallback font styles for Outlook viewing
This update successfully aligned Rodney Strong’s email communications with their elevated brand, enhancing customer perception and brand consistency across channels.
